Is Militec-1 Safe?

Militec-1 does not contain viscosity enhancers, solids (of any type), nor oil augmentation compounds. It therefore cannot modify normal oil in any way. It has also been extensively tested: see: Composite of tests
[see: explain for the composition of Militec-1]

Who uses Militec-1?

In the United States of America Militec-1 has been sold commercially since 1989, here is a partial Commercial Client list of a US based Militec-1 Distributor: http://www.laniganperformance.com/who_uses_it.html

Although Militec-1 is now sold in the U.K. we have not had sufficient time to build a  major client list. [see: UK Testomonials for more details]

Militec-1 was developed for the US Military and since the Early 1980's has and is being used by the following:

  • US Army
  • Air Force
  • Navy
  • Secret Service
  • Sky Marshals
  • US Marshals
  • Coast Guard
  • FBI (Incl. Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers)
  • Local Police Forces
  • INS, NCIS, DIA, DCIS, USPI, USPP, IRS, DEA etc.

What Can I expect in terms of Fuel Economy?

Around 10% on given sufficient motorway mileage.

Why ?: Fuel economy is measured in Miles per Gallon or litres per 100 km.
If you spend a lot of time stuck in congestion or waiting for traffic lights, the engine is idling (consuming fuel) for zero miles/km travelled.

In Scientific tests involving isolated engines Militec-1 has improved fuel economy by up to 7%, as these engines are maintained and calibrated to work at optimum levels (for scientific research), there is no doubt that Militec actually works. However users often report very high improvements in fuel economy (10+ to 30%) which should not be expected unless you spend a considerable (almost all) of your normal driving on motorways or experience un-congested rural driving. (Above 10% is the exception rather than the rule.)

Militec-1 works because it targets the largest know energy loss found in a standard  vehicle.

Energy Losses in a standard petrol car

Only 12.6% of fuel energy actually reaches the rear tyres.
Militec-1 can be added to the Engine,  Gearbox, Transmission System and Rear Axle. Militec-1 Grease is also available for grease points.

What Can I expect in terms of Reduced Wear?

Around 60% less wear.

Why?: Where you get metal to metal friction, Militec-1 provides a oil barrier between the metal surfaces which is chemically reactive to heat. (The more friction that occurs the more heat is formed as a by-product and the more Militec-1 is drawn to the area where it bonds available oil molecules to the metal.)

What Can I expect in terms of Reduced Exhaust Pollution?

In a standard MOT style test, expect a 50% drop.

Under laboratory conditions, Brunel university have confirmed this [50% drop in smoke] for diesel engines, however you should be aware that a "standard MOT test" occurs with an RPM of between 1,000 RPM to 2,000 RPM, on a level surface and they never apply engine load. When load range and the RPM range of a engine is tested the reduction is less impressive, the largest drop [15% min, 40% max] was in HC (hydro carbons) across the RPM and load range. (e.g. Load is an empty truck compared with a fully loaded truck on various inclines.)  [Note: A reduction in HC means less unburnt fuel in exhaust systems/or reduced fuel wastage.]

Is Militec-1 is best anti-friction oil available?

No - it is not. There is a group of lubricates that contain "Chlorinated Paraffin's" which provide far superior initial lubrication. However due to a chemical reaction that occurs in engines or/and on metal surfaces, which is caused by stress, friction and heat, "Chlorinated Paraffin's" result in the formation of "Choride Ions", which in turn when exposed to water vapour* combined with more "stress, friction and heat", result in the formation of "Hydrochloric Acid" which eats and damages metal surfaces. (If you use such products, your engine, gearbox etc. will be damaged.)

* Ambient air contains water vapour.

In general you should be wary of (and avoid) oil products that contain:

  • "Chlorinated Paraffin"
  • Solid Particles (e.g. Teflon®/PTFE)
  • Viscosity enhancers.
  • Carrier Oils.
  • Solvents.

Teflon® is the registered trade mark of DUPONT.

Note: Zinc, Molybdenum Disulfide and/or sulphur are added at source to some types of engine and gearbox oils, this is normal industry practice however, avoid them in additive form a too much of "a good thing" will have an adverse effect.

Militec-1 does not include any of the above listed products, nor any other products known or suspected to have adverse effects.

Militec-1 is Non Corrosive and is totally safe, while providing superior lubrication, protection/anti-wear, fuel economy and emission/smoke reductions.

Will Militec-1 Effect my Warrantee ?

The use of an oil does not effect warrantees, damage effects warrantees.

i.e. Warrantees inevitably always contain a "catch all" clause which covers the manufacturer against unforeseen damage. It will go something like this:

"If you perform any modifications or use any product not recommended by [warrantee company] and this later results in damage, then this damage will not be covered and your warrantee may be limited".

What if damage occurs ?

If damage occurs there is Militec-1 product insurance which covers damage to vehicles, equipment, planes, missiles, space craft and boats under 50ft.

NB: Limitations apply:
A) Total value of asset must not exceed USD 1 Million.
B) Loss of earnings is limited to a further USD 1 Million.
C) Loss of earnings relating to grounding of aircraft is specifically excluded.
D) Total claim value limited to USD 2 Million.

What are the chances of damage occurring ?

Quite simply Militec-1 has been in public use since 1989, and pre this date with the US Military. Militec-1 is and has been in being used in some of the worlds most expensive hardware. (i.e. Nuclear Subs and low orbit Space Craft.)

As Militec-1 is an anti-friction product, contains no known or suspected harmful ingredients, no solids etc. the chances of a problem are low and can be gauged by the number of claims since 1989. A total of Zero.

From Militec-1's use (Including it's pre-1989 classified Military usage) up to the present day,  Militec-1 has not had a single claim nor complaint against it in respect of :

  • Warrantees
  • Damage caused (or suspected)
  • Miss-marketing
  • Untruthful advertising
  • Misleading statements.

From anyone in any country  (i.e. Military, Federal, Commercial, Industrial, Private Individuals, Industry Watch Dog, etc.)
