Dear Dr. Roth;

            This letter is to relate the experiences I have had using MILITEC-1 in my own personal cars. As you know, I have been a warehouse distributor for MILITEC-1 products since 1997, but I have been using MILITEC-1 for over ten years now.

            I own a 1992 Lincoln Mark VII in which I have been using MILITEC-1 since I bought it new back in '92. I recently removed and sold the motor in it because I wanted a motor with more horsepower. The original motor had 140,000 miles on it and those were 140,000 very rough miles as I used the car for drag racing. The car weighs in at 2 tons and has run a best of 12.40's in the quarter mile. The motor made 229 horsepower at the rear wheels using gasoline for about 80,000 miles.

I then switched to nitrous oxide which got the horsepower up to 430 at the rear wheels. Nitrous oxide is very violent on the motor. I leave the starting line at 5,000 rpm and shift it at 6,000 rpm all the way down the track using a Tremec 5-speed transmission. The last 60,000 miles on that motor were with nitrous oxide.

            At the time I sold the motor, it was not consuming any oil. A compression check at around 130,000 miles showed 125 to 130 psi for every cylinder. The below  photos show the condition of the engine at 140,000 miles. You can see that it still looks like a new motor.

            Now to let you know some more of the abuse the motor has been through. One day during the summer here in Florida, it blew a radiator hose in the line at the bank. I drove it home and it got so hot that every time I would step on the gas it would ping like there was no tomorrow due to premature detonation.

            Another time was when I was going to change intakes. I had removed all of the radiator hoses but I got sidetracked and never finished. A week later I got in the car and drove to the grocery store. When I walked in front of the car, I noticed some water dripping so I opened the hood and saw that I had forgotten to replace the radiator hoses. The motor never got hot and I drove it home without consequence.

            Yet another time, I was in Maryland on vacation and broke the corner out of the Tremec transmission. I had no way to get it repaired up there, so I drove it home (around 1,100 miles). During the drive, I added transmission fluid and MILITEC-1 every hour or two due to it running out onto the road. After getting home, I removed transmission and took it to Ramsey Performance where they replaced the case and examined the transmission. It did not need any parts other than a new case, which was the second one I had to replace due to the power of the nitrous and the weight of the car.

            Also, one time around 3 or 4 years ago at the race track I was running wide open in 4th gear when the harmonic balancer came apart. The stock ones don't like to be swung to 6,000 rpm on the nitrous. At idle, you could watch the shifter shake from side to side violently and the motor shake violently as the motor was completely out of balance. Well I didn't have any way to get the car home without driving it so I drove it around 50 miles down the interstate to the house. The only thing the car needed was a new racing balancer which I installed. That was at about 90,000 miles.

            Now to me these are things I have heard from my MILITEC-1 customers for years, but the thing that really amazed me is what happened to me and just recently around a month ago to one of my customers at the race track with his nitrous assisted Mustang.

I was at the Fun Ford spring shootout 2001 racing my car and had changed the timing to try to pick up some time, but forgot to tighten the distributor. While racing down the track wide open on the nitrous in third gear, the car just shut down. I got it started at the end of the track and it was running real rough and wouldn't idle. I got it back to the pit area and started pulling spark plugs. I found that 3 of them had melted clean off to the porcelain and one had melted the electrode to the plug. The motor had around 122,000 miles on it. I ran a compression check and all the cylinders were between 125 and 130. I put new plugs in, set the timing and tightened the distributor. I continued racing the rest of the weekend. I drive this car to the racetrack and race it then drive it home and has many more racing passes on it

As you can see with all the abuse this motor has gone thru MILITEC-1 has made the difference. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me anytime.
